Stanmore Kitchen

From the street, this lovely three storey Victorian terrace blends in comfortably with its neighbours. Walk through the iron lace gate and past the marble fireplaces and you emerge in a small corner of Denmark, complete with Scandinavian style furniture and accoutrements. Beyond that lay a beautiful room with a curved wall of timber windows more akin to an ocean liner style home. The result of an earlier extension, the room also housed a cramped kitchen and small meals area.
With a brief to create a modern, streamlined and open plan kitchen, Dan Kitchens suggested removing an internal wall, adding new beams over old, a tricky job made to look easy by the builder. An elegant glass shelf room divider was designed to preserve the Danish corner; cater for the client’s collection of glass objects and provide a blind for the sink area hiding behind. A unifying concrete tile floor throughout the merged space blended with similar coloured quartz benchtops whilst veneer joinery highlights sat well with the cedar windows. The resulting kitchen proved to be both functional and elegant- a true delight and surprise to very proud owners and visitors alike.
